About FONO
FONO is Ottawa's first listening bar — inspired by Japanese kissa bars, built around a custom Hi-Fi sound system handmade by Montreal's Automatic Audio using Douglas fir wood. Two rooms: the Hi-Fi Lounge for intimate listening and The Ballroom for events and concerts. Vinyl DJ sets, specialty cocktails, natural wine, and Spanish tapas-inspired small plates. Opened April 10, 2026 in a 1925 heritage building (formerly a tombstone manufacturer).
Founded by Matias Munoz, who previously ran Ottawa Showbox and the DIY art space Cinqhole. "Fono" is Spanish slang for "phone."
