About Cocotte Bistro

Cocotte Bistro sits inside The Metcalfe Hotel on Metcalfe Street in downtown Ottawa. The space is beautiful — sharp black-and-white stone floor tiles flown in from Italy, a marble bar, and rich green velvet banquettes inspired by classic French bistros. It's one of those places that feels polished without being pretentious.

Chef Stephen La Salle (previously at Feast + Revel in the Andaz) runs a French-inspired menu built around locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant covers every meal — breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, and weekend brunch — making it one of the most versatile French options in the city. Its location near the National Arts Centre also makes it a convenient pre-theatre spot.

What to Order

  • Cornish Hen — A dinner standout. Expertly prepared and beautifully presented.
  • Steak Frites — Classic French bistro done right. A reliable order.
  • Ottawa-Brest — Their local spin on Paris-Brest, and a must-try dessert.
  • Oysters — Fresh and available daily.
  • Weekend Brunch — A popular draw, available Saturday and Sunday.
