About Silver Lake Provincial Park

Silver Lake Provincial Park is one of those parks that doesn't get the same attention as Bon Echo or Algonquin, but the people who know it keep coming back. It's a smaller, quieter park on a clear lake, about 90 minutes southwest of Ottawa near Maberly in Lanark County.

The water is clean, the beaches are sandy, and the campgrounds aren't overwhelmingly large. If you want a calm weekend on the water without competing for space, this is a solid pick.

Camping

The park has 146 campsites across three campgrounds:

Wesley Campground (62 sites)

27 sites with electrical hookups. Pull-through sites that accommodate large trailers. The most serviced option.

Dawson Campground (42 sites)

6 sites with electrical hookups. A quieter middle ground.

Algonquin Campground (44 sites)

Non-electrical only. The most rustic and private option.

One barrier-free site is available.

Things to Do

Swimming

Two sandy beaches on Silver Lake. The water is clear and the entry is gradual — good for kids.

Paddling

Canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards are available for rent. A boat launch at the end of the main park road provides lake access.

Nature Programs

Discovery exploration programs run in July and August — guided walks, nature talks, and kids' activities.
