Conroy Pit
One of Ottawa's largest off-leash dog parks with 5 km of wooded trails through dense forest. Unfenced but spacious — perfect for dogs with good recall who love exploring.
Features
Conroy Pit is one of the largest off-leash dog areas in Ottawa, located on Conroy Road south of Hunt Club Road. Unlike Bruce Pit, Conroy Pit is unfenced — it's a former sand pit that's been reclaimed by nature, with dense woodland trails and open fields stretching across a large area.
The Trails
A 5 km loop trail winds through dense forest — narrower and more meandering than Bruce Pit, through thicker woodland. The trail is easy and mostly flat, taking about 1 hour to complete at a walking pace. AllTrails rates it as one of Ottawa's most popular dog-friendly trails with over 550 reviews.
There's also a large pond where dogs love to swim in warmer months. The open field areas near the entrance provide space for fetch and play.

Tips
- Recall is essential — the park is not fenced, and trails lead into open forest
- Parking fills fast — there's limited parking along Conroy Road. Arrive early on weekends
- Mud season: Even muddier than Bruce Pit in spring. Bring rubber boots and a towel
- Pond: Dogs will find the water. Bring a towel for the car ride home
- Less crowded: If Bruce Pit is too busy, Conroy Pit is usually less packed
Getting There
The entrance is on the west side of Conroy Road, south of Hunt Club Road. Look for cars parked along the roadside — there's no formal parking lot. The trail entrance is marked but easy to miss.
