About Camp Fortune

Camp Fortune is a four-season outdoor adventure resort located at the edge of Gatineau Park in Chelsea, Quebec. It's the closest ski resort to downtown Ottawa — about 15 minutes across the river — and has been a staple for Ottawa-area residents for decades.

The resort is composed of three mountainsides: the Valley (beginner-friendly slopes), Meech (intermediate terrain), and Skyline (advanced runs). Beyond skiing, Camp Fortune has expanded significantly into summer adventure activities including ziplines, a mountain pipe coaster, an aerial park, and a growing mountain bike park.

Tips for Families

  • The Children's Course at the aerial park is designed for younger kids who can't yet reach the 1.75 m height requirement for the Explorer Course
  • The mountain coaster is a crowd favourite with kids — riders can control their own speed, so nervous riders can take it slow
  • For a full family day in summer, the Adventure Day Pass bundles three activities into one visit
  • In winter, the Valley mountainside has gentle beginner terrain and is where ski lessons are offered
  • Camp Fortune runs ski camps and mountain bike camps for kids during summer and winter breaks
  • Bring layers — the mountaintop can be noticeably cooler than Ottawa, especially on chairlifts

Getting There from Ottawa

  • By Car: Cross the Champlain Bridge or Portage Bridge into Gatineau, then follow Route 105 North. Take the exit for Chemin Dunlop. The drive is about 15–20 minutes from downtown Ottawa
  • By Transit: STO bus service runs from downtown Ottawa/Gatineau toward Chelsea, but service is limited — driving is strongly recommended
  • Parking: Free parking at the resort. Lots can fill up on busy ski weekends and holiday Mondays — arrive early
