About Black Sheep Inn
The Black Sheep Inn (Auberge le Mouton Noir) is a legendary Canadian indie music venue on the Gatineau River in Wakefield. The small, intimate room hosted Arcade Fire, Feist, and many other now-famous Canadian acts in their early days, and was a permanent fixture on the indie touring circuit for decades.
Closed in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic, the venue soft-reopened on September 20, 2025 under new owner Jennifer Nesbitt (after long-time co-owner Paul Symes retired), with Christina Stobert running operations as Commander-in-Chief. First regular shows started October 10, 2025 — programming spans Great Lake Swimmers, Jim Bryson, MonkeyJunk, plus DJ nights, comedy, and a full-service kitchen. Schedule is still settling — check the official site or Songkick for the current calendar before driving up. (Source: The Low Down, October 2025.)
