About Sidedoor
Sidedoor opened in 2011 at 18B York Street, right next to its sister restaurant E18hteen. Owned by Peter Boole and Caroline Gosselin, the restaurant was conceived as a more approachable counterpart to the fine-dining space next door — and it quickly became a destination in its own right.
The kitchen is led by Chef Jonathan Korecki, a Top Chef Canada finalist, who draws inspiration from the street food stalls of Southeast Asia. Everything is designed to be shared — dishes come out continuously and are placed at the centre of the table, family style.
What to Order
- Asian-Inspired Tacos — The signature. Creative fillings that change seasonally.
- Soft-Shell Crab — A fan favourite when in season. Often cited as one of the best dishes in the ByWard Market.
- Dim Sum Brunch — Available on weekends. A must-try for dumpling lovers.
