The first slam poet finalist for the Prix Découvertes RFI, Lydol has successfully established both her name and her art form—slam poetry—in Cameroon and across Africa. She was recognized by the U.S. Department of State as a Mandela Washington Fellow of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in 2024. Recently in creative residency in Montreal, Canada, and at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, she has drawn attention for her slam performances at prestigious international events. She was appointed Ambassador for Africa–European Union Collaboration in 2022.
Her discography includes two albums (Hybride and Slamthérapie), two EPs (Fragile and Elixir), as well as several singles. With a combined following of more than 1,000,000 fans on social media, she gained widespread public recognition through her performance on the television show Africa’s Got Talent (L’Afrique a un incroyable talent).
Named Best Afro‑Urban Artist at the Canal 2’Or Awards, she went on to perform a sold‑out concert in Paris in July 2023. Lydol continues to tour extensively across African and European stages, while also serving as the promoter of the PluriElles and Slam’Up festivals, as well as the Science Slam Cameroon competition, launched in 2015. She is also the founder of the SHEroes Association, which supports and assists women and young girls who are victims of violence. A multidisciplinary artist, she now integrates other artistic disciplines into her performances. She embodies her texts in a theatrical and musical way—whether performing a cappella or accompanied by musicians—and does not hesitate to dance on stage, helping to broaden slam’s appeal to new audiences and move beyond more intimate formats.
Lydol’s artistic approach is matched by a strong educational commitment. A doctoral candidate in economics, she remains deeply engaged with younger generations. Through her “Style haut à stylo” (High Style, Pen in Hand) writing workshops, she mentors and coaches emerging writers.
