Veterans’ Week at the Diefenbunker runs November 5–8 and November 10–11, 2026. The museum is closed November 9.
Visit a remembrance space in the Bank of Canada Vault, explore Indigenous veterans’ stories through An Inuit Story: The DEW Line, and watch Cold War veterans’ oral histories near the Machine Room. Museum volunteers also share their experiences of military service.
November 10: Special Tours
Spaces are limited and advance ticket reservations are required.
- Curatorial Tour, 12:30–2:30 pm: the bunker’s origins, once-classified operational plans and Canada’s preparations for a nuclear attack.
- Collections Tour, 12:30–2 pm: the facility’s architecture and how the museum preserves the bunker.
November 11: Remembrance Day
General admission is free on November 11; reserve tickets through the museum’s official event page. Guided tours are not offered that day. The museum observes a moment of silence at 11 am. Visitors can then lay a poppy on the wreath in the Bank of Canada Vault.

Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum
A four-storey underground bunker built in 1959 as Canada's emergency government headquarters during the Cold War. Now a National Historic Site, it offers self-guided tours, guided tours, and an escape room experience 75 feet below ground.
