Afro-Andean Funk: Todo Migra Tour

Afro-Andean Funk: Todo Migra Tour

El español sigue al texto en inglés

Araceli Poma grew up in the Andes of Peru, in the house of her grandmother, Mamá Nieves — a community healer whose prayers and songs were the first music she ever knew. She migrated to New York and brought that inheritance with her.

Todo Migra — everything migrates — is a concert that moves the way memory moves: between the Andes and the African diaspora, between Quechua and English and Spanish, between the ritual and the dancefloor. Led by Poma and New York bassist-producer Matt Geraghty, the two-time Latin Grammy–nominated ensemble Afro-Andean Funk weaves Andean melody, Afro-Peruvian rhythm, jazz improvisation, and funk into something that feels ancient and completely alive.

There are moments in this show that don't belong to performance — they belong to ceremony. Poma sings in Quechua for Mamá Nieves, so her grandmother's voice never disappears. She offers Agua del Olvido — the healer's water of forgetting, the old cure for grief — as a reminder that music has always been medicine.

This is a concert for a moment when moving across borders has become an act of courage. But it doesn't argue. It heals.
