Post-show Dance Party: Traditional music and dance with La Déferlance and Yaëlle Azoulay

NAC Dance invites you to a traditional dance party in the Canal Foyer, designed to enhance your experience of the show MÁM by Irish choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan (Teaċ Daṁsa). To the sound of traditional Quebec music performed live by the group La Déferlance, renowned caller Yaëlle Azoulay will guide you through some basic folk dance steps. Whether you’re already a fan or it’s your very first time, everyone is welcome to join this upbeat, informal gathering. You’ll be swinging your hips and tapping your feet in no time! This evening offers a unique opportunity to come together and celebrate traditional music and dance in a spirit of sharing, connection, and fun.

Formed in 2018, La Déferlance offers a refreshing, lively, and colourful take on traditional music. The group’s repertoire includes rousing tunes and traditional songs arranged in their distinctive style, as well as many original compositions.

Yaëlle Azoulay has been active in the dance community for over 25 years, working as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and caller.

Specializing in jigs, traditional Quebec dance, and percussive dance, she has developed a unique style that combines tradition with creativity.
