In celebration of Glenn Gould, his long-lasting musical legacy, and his beloved CD 318 Steinway piano, this salon-style concert features Cécile Desrosiers and Thomas Nicholson playing the music of Bach, Handel, Haydn, Jacquet de La Guerre, Debussy, and more. The music selections reflect some of the composers Gould was most fond of including most notably Bach.
Deeply cherished by Gould, CD 318 has lived at the NAC as both an artefact and living instrument since its transfer from Library and Archives Canada in 2012. Through the collaboration of the NAC Archives and NACO Administration departments, this concert highlights both the piano’s historical significance and uniqueness in honour of Gould’s legacy of creativity, passion, and individual expression.
