Step into the land and waters of Kespukwitk (Southwest Nova Scotia) to experience the Mi’kmaw ways of knowing and being that shaped the life of Sam Glode — a Mi’kmaw Knowledge Carrier, treaty protector, veteran, harvester, and guide. Immersive spaces, dynamic soundscapes, and interactive activities invite visitors to see, hear and feel this place, fostering empathy, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of Mi’kmaw teachings, perspectives and values.
Follow Sam’s extraordinary wartime service as a tunneller and engineer, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. Explore his lifelong commitment to land stewardship, community leadership, and treaty advocacy — a legacy his family and Mi’kmaw communities continue today. And reflect on your own responsibilities to land, community, and future generations.
With gratitude to Bev and Brian Purdy and the MDCC team, whose patience and dedication guided the development of this story.
