About
Discover the fascinating world of Faith Fyles (1875–1961), Canada’s first female government botanist. This exhibition highlights her unique career at Ottawa’s Central Experimental Farm, where she combined science and art—collecting plant specimens, studying plant diseases, and illustrating plants and fruits in a variety of media. Throughout the exhibition, contemporary works by Barbara Brown, Deborah Margo, Marie-Jeanne Musiol, Susan Geraldine Taylor, Stephanie Tenasco, and Sarah Potter, sit alongside Fyles’ legacy, reflecting themes of land, labour, and scientific craft.
